English and Phonics

At St Marychurch, ensuring our children have access to high quality and varied reading books, across all genres, is a high priority.

All key stages have access to Reading Spine books, which are a selection of titles specifically for each year group.  These books are rotated as Year A and Year B within each keystage, so that children have exposure to well known traditonal stories, poetry, picture books and chapter books as they move through the school.

Children chose a book along with their teacher, which is then read as their class story.
