St Marychurch CE Primary School is a Church of England school and our Christian foundation underpins the ethos and life of our school community.
Whether you are a first time or frequent visitor to our website, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of our school, to welcome you to the St Marychurch community. We aim to use the website to provide parents with up-to-date news and information from the school.
We are a happy, warm and friendly community school, with pupils and families from a wide range of beliefs, cultures and backgrounds, and we celebrate this diversity whenever we can. At St. Marychurch, we believe that children learn and flourish when they feel safe & secure and when they are having fun! With this underpinning our decisions, we provide an exciting curriculum that allows all children to achieve their greatest potential; we believe that a successful start to your child’s education will enable them to become life-long learners and responsible citizens in our fast-changing world.
Our school motto is “Nurturing minds, fulfilling lives”. We believe that we can achieve this by forging a strong partnership between home and school, a partnership based on open and effective communication: our website is a big part of this communication.
Success in the education of your child depends, at least in some part, on your involvement. Children, staff, parents and governors all contribute to the education journey as partners in learning, and we value highly the amazing support we receive from our parents. It is vitally important to us that parents and families share our vision, and work in partnership with us for the benefit of the children.
If your child sees that you are enthusiastic about their education, they are far more likely to view their schooling in a positive light and be more receptive to learning.
The information that follows within the website will begin to show you how we can work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for your child.
As a church school, we value our strong links within our community, St Marychurch and with Father Nick. Pupils visit church regularly and Father Nick leads worship at school to support and promote the vision, values and scripture that underpin our daily lives within school.
I extend a warm invitation to you to come and see us at work. If there is anything you ever need to discuss, or anything you wish to share, our doors are always open.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
If you would like a paper copy of any of the information on our website, please let us know.

What does flourishing look like?
Our rich, broad and inclusive curriculum which nurtures academic success alongside character development and spiritual growth, and our team-led support for those with the greatest need, are at the heart of our vision for flourishing pupils.
Our relationships with pupils and their families/carers, including our open-door policy, our willingness to respectfully listen and our "outstanding, care, guidance and support", are at the heart of our vision for a flourishing school.
Our Christian values of Love, Peace, Joy and Kindness and our relationship with the community of St Marychurch and the church - St Mary the Virgin - are at the heart of our vision for a flourishing community.
I am passionate about reading and reading for pleasure. I am passionate about celebrating all forms of reading. I am passionate about pupils reading books which broaden their horizons and help them better understand and respect the diversity which exists within our world. Finally, I am passionate about every child discovering their special book - a book that they read when they are feeling happy and also read when they are feeling sad - a book that they treasure forever! I am very pleased that the staff at St Marychurch CoE Primary School and Nursery share this passion too.
