Inspection Reports

Following our latest Ofsted, May 2024, we are proud to announce that we are a "Good" school.

The report is published below and we would like to celebrate some of the comments that the inspectors said about our school - we are proud to be part of St Marychurch CofE Primary School.

'Pupils at St Marychurch are vibrant and confident individuals.'

'Pupils conduct themselves well in lessons, when moving around the school and during playtimes.'

'The strong and nurturing relationships between staff and pupils can be heard in action across the school. Pupils say this is one of the best things about the school.'

'‘An army of angels’ was one parent’s comment about the staff.'

'The youngest children in the school are excited about learning. In Nursery and Reception, staff encourage children to explore and be curious about the world around them.'

'Pupils, staff and increasing numbers of parents now hold a positive view of behaviour.'

'The school encourages pupils to be aware of maintaining good mental health. Pupils are self-aware and can express their views and opinions with confidence. They are tolerant and respectful of the views of others because they are well informed about diversity and the world around them.'

SIAMS Inspection

In November 2023, St Marychurch had a SIAMS inspection under the new inspection framework.  All Anglican church schools must have an inspection every five years to look at the leadership and management, the impact of the school's distinctly Christian character on its pupils, the contribution of worship to the whole community and the quality of Religious Education lessons across the school.

The inspector spent the day with the children, talking to school leaders, parents, governors, clergy and staff.

The new framework offers one of two judgements: J1 where the school is judged to be living up to its foundations as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish and J2, where the school has strengths but there are also issues that leaders need to address as a matter of priority.

Here are a few points highlighted as a strength by the inspector:

  • The vision is instrumental in creating a warm caring community, where pupils show a real understanding of Christian values and how they shape their thinking. As a result, pupils showone another a good degree of dignity and respect.
  • The provision to meet pupils’ diverse needs is growing and making a difference, so they can flourish. Staff reach out to families in challenging times, offering practical support on their journey through life, nurturing their feelings of being valued.

We are delighted and proud to report that the school received a J1 result from the inspector.
